In this post – linen pant outfit ideas

This post contains affiliate links.

I LOVE linen pants.

They are great for Summer – especially if you are running errands and are constantly going back and forth between the cold air conditioning of stores and into the heat!

Except the wrinkles.

But they are so comfy I am willing to forgive the wrinkles.

a thoughtful place

They are the perfect Summer pant. Or capri.

Celebs love them.

Perfect for a warm Summer day. Or even a hot one… if you are out of the sun.

They also work for transition into Fall or from Spring as well!

An all white outfit with a lightweight cotton shirt and linen pants is super chic.  Perfect for Summer!

Or you could go bold and dress them up!

These ones are my favorite – they are cropped and remind me of joggers. I have them in black and tan!

I also own these linen pants in black and white – you cannot beat the price!

Hey everybody!

I am having to take a Summer hiatus from hosting Thursday Favorite Things.  We’ve got too many things going on this Summer with our house build and Summer trips.

The party still continues at Katherine’s Corner, so if you would like to link up please head on over and visit Katherine’s Corner.

I should be resuming hosting this Fall.

Also, I have to put a hiatus on Sip and Shop Saturdays due to also being too busy.

I’ll still post on my usual Sun, Tues, Friday posting schedule.

18th Century Decor Style at the Louvre Museum

In this Post – 18th century decorative arts at the Louvre Museum

When we were in Paris at the Louvre a few years ago, we stumbled upon a newly reopened section in the 18th century decorative arts.

We were absolutely delighted to find original antiques from King Louis XIV-XVI and Marie Antoinette!

Below is furniture from the aunts of King Louis XVI from the Chateau de Bellevue

As you may know, many of the originals from Versailles were stolen and those that are in the museum today are replicas.

… but some of the originals are housed inside the Louvre!

There were plenty of other precious pieces housed here as well.

Below is a music room from the 1780s.

Below, a room from  Château d’Abondant. The draperies are restored by Pierre Frey.  It took them hours studying the tattered originals to remake them!

How do you like this beautiful piece?

A commode from Madame du Barry.

Unfortunately I do not know who makes the beautiful service below!

Below, a collage of French chairs! Which one is your favorite?!

Below is from the salon of Marie Antoinette. Isn’t it pretty?

Salon of Marie Antoinette

I love the sterling fruit on top of this tureen!

I love this faience piece with the birds!

This beautiful room and objets d’art were from the hôtel de Villemaré- Dangé, circa 1750. I love the pale yellow chaise.

Below, a closer look at the room where this pretty chair was sitting!

I was in awe by this harp! Do you see the face carved in the silver?

A pretty painting owned by own of the aunts of King Louis XVI.

Below is sterling and a porcelain piece by Sevres for Madame du Barry.

A collection of china from Marie Antoinette below.  The middle pot is for Charlotte-Louis.

I hope you enjoyed this tour of 18th century decorative arts!

This collection is located in the Richelieu wing.  Good luck finding it!  We did not know it was here and stumbled upon it as we were lost wandering around!

Peonies are my favorite flower, as you all know! I named my blog after them!

Then on the way home with the peonies, we pulled over to pick some strawberries from a local stand and they had sweet peas too!

Setting this French country style table was simple.  I pulled out a French linen runner for the center.

I used two small Juliska vases to hold the sweet peas.

The colors of the sweet peas are so pretty! Prettier than the ones at the store!

The blue goblets go with the runner.  I also love the new plates from Aerin at WS.

Each place setting has a sweet pea nestled on the plate.

I just love peonies. They are so photogenic!

The peony season is short lived so I had to take many photos!

The sweet peas only lasted 2 days! I couldn’t believe how short-lived they were!

A last look at this French country table!

Which would you choose?? Polished Nickel or Unpolished Brass Hardware?

In this post – looking at polished nickel and unpolished brass hardware

This post may contain affiliate links.

I have to pick out my kitchen hardware soon and I am having a hard time deciding between polished nickel and unpolished brass hardware! I like them both!

Polished Nickel

Pros – matches my sink faucet, classic and seemingly timeless

Cons – with an all white kitchen it can be seen as a little “cold”, but it is warmer than polished chrome. Also, it is quite common (does that matter? nah.)

Unpolished Brass

Pros – has a nice warmth to it, and is something different then what I am used to

Cons – possibly too trendy, difficult to match the exact finish unless all hardware is from the same company

Below is kind of how it would look in my kitchen – I have the exact faucet with an apron sink and marble counters… although it looks like the hardware is gold to me and not brass!

Jean Stoffer Design

So, which would YOU choose?

I think I know what I am leaning to now. I think.

In this post – house updates for June!

cabinets in chantilly lace

The house has slowly been moving along.  I have had to pick out paint colors as we start painting this week.

cabinets in Chantilly lace.

We are doing honed carrara marble counters in the kitchen.

I love the all white kitchen, but my kitchen is rather large so I will be doing the two tone – island one color and the remaining cabinets another color.

Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace will be the kitchen cabinet color.

Benjamin Moore’s Silversong will be the island cabinet color.

Benjamin Moore’s White Dove is the wall color for the majority of the house.

Benjamin Moore’s Classic Gray will be in some of the rooms.

Yes, this is such a pretty picture… haha! Trying to determine the size of our wood beam fireplace mantel with a  piece of cardboard and outlines of the sconces that will go there!

A bunch of pictures at tile stores looking at possible backsplashes for above the stove in the kitchen.

Although I confess I do not know if any of the above are in my price range! I just liked them!

And below, considering different tiles for a powder room floor…

Hmmm… considering this toile for dining room drapery.

Alright, I hope you enjoyed the latest house updates!SaveSave

We plan to do a trellis similar to the ones here.

It sees that jasmine is a popular plant choice for this type of trellis.

You can get a similar look too with trees.

I think it is so cool that you can train a plant or tree to grow like this!

I love De Gournay and Gracie wallpaper – what’s not to like about it?

design by Karol Banhart

What I don’t love is the price.

I thought, there has got to be some cheaper alternatives that will get you the look for less…

so I went off on a hunt.

And I found similar wallpapers! These get you the same look for less! I’m so excited!

I rounded them up here for you.

Farmhouse Patriotic Table Setting

In this post – a Farmhouse Patriotic Table Setting for Fourth of July and Independence Day Decorations

I love setting tables – especially for holidays but I find that frequently patriotic tables appear too kitschy in my opinion.

For this patriotic table I was inspired by the antique transfer ware plates that usually sit in the cabinet or hanging on the walls.

This patriotic table has a little more muted colors of the flag – light reds and pinks replace the bold red that is usually present.

I chose peonies for this table, because one they are my favorite flower, and two, they kind of reminded me of fireworks!

A trio of goblets (for red wine, white wine, and water if you are going super formal) also echo the red, white and blue on our flag.

Vintage zinc lanterns are perfect for this farmhouse patriotic table.

Yes, the transferware plates are there for looks – the real plate that everyone eats off of is the scalloped edge white plate below – a new find from Aerin for Williams Sonoma.

You can create a patriotic table that has simple elegance – I kept it less formal by using burlap chargers and leaving out the table cloth!

This table can easily be translated for outdoor dining as well.

I’ve included sources for you for the new items – the rest are all antique or vintage or I cannot find the source!

Blue Goblets

Hopefully this table inspired you to create a beautiful patriotic table in your home too.
