Best Peloton Accessories

Best Peloton AccessoriesWe use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know how much I love the Peloton bike. I wrote about it here (Peloton Bike – 3 years later) and here (Peloton bike – 100 rides later). I have been on a big exercise kick for the past 6-8 months.

I’m going to share some must-have accessories for your bike!

Bike Seat Cover – now I personally don’t use it, but I know many people complain that the seat is too hard and a gel seat cover is a must. once you get used to the bike, you don’t need it! But many people love it!

Gym towels – these microfiber gym towels would be perfect for drying off!

Spintowel – I recently learned of this. It covers your bike handles with a towel and then also has a towel you can use to wipe yourself off with. It is made specifically for the Peloton bike!

Sweat wicking headband- The peloton makes you SWEAT. I have sweat dripping down into my eyes every time I cycle. These headbands are a must if you are a sweaty head like me!

Tower fan – speaking of sweat, you need to have a fan! I have an older version of this tower fan. Having the remove control is key! I keep the remote control behind the seat and can change the fan speed based on my demand!

Or a smaller fan – if you don’t want a big tower fan, this little fan is good too. The key though is the remote control! TRUST ME!

Scosche Heart Rate Monitor – this is the heart rate monitor that tons of riders use! If you don’t like the chest strap monitor that comes with the bike, then get this one!

Bike Mat – strongly recommend putting an exercise mat under your bike to catch your sweat! We have this one under our bike.

Delta Bike Cleats – You can buy pretty much whatever indoor cycling shoes you want, so long as they are delta bike cleat compatible. I bought Shimano cycling shoes and then these bike cleats. You don’t have to stick to the Peloton shoes.

Weights – If you are going to do some strength training classes off the bike, you likely need to buy some weights. I have purchased these weights in several different sizes. They do NOT fit in the little holder behind your bike. I use them for the strength training classes.

Earbuds – Spinning on the bike can be loud and obnoxious to other people who may be nearby. These earbuds are used by many riders and are loved. They are also great to wear especially if you have little ones around as, for instance, the music in Robin’s classes often contain explicit language.

Favorite Spin Pants – I love these Align pants by Lululemon.

Now I know that this isn’t for the bike per se, but these are must haves for yoga!

Yoga Mat – must have for yoga and even stretching exercises

Yoga Blocks and Strap – must have for yoga!

You can also check out my Amazon page – I linked even more items there!

Gucci Princetown Mule vs Brixton Loafer Review

We use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

In search for a classic loafer/mule style for a while, I had my eyes on a pair of Guccis for quite some time.  I bought a pair of black Brixton loafers last year and without a doubt I can say it was the best shoe decision I’ve ever made.  The shoes feel like butter on my feet. They are made of the softest leather with leather soles.  They mold to the shape of your feet.  I broke them in and walked 5 miles in them in one day… and I had no blisters.

Another reason they are super comfy is because the heel of the shoe is extra supple. In fact, it is designed to be worn like below.  Often times on loafers or flats the heel is uncomfortable and will dig into my heel.  But with the extra soft leather, it doesn’t!

Below is the alternate way you can wear them.

So, I decided to get a second pair.

I know that the Princetown mules are incredibly popular, so I bought a pair.  And guess what… I didn’t love them!  And for the price, you HAVE to love them!

Why didn’t I love them?  Well, I’ll show you. The pink shoe on the left is the Princetown Mule. The black shoe on the right is the Brixton Loafer.  Do you see how the pink mule has a longer tongue and goes further up my foot?  It made my foot look bigger. I wear size 9 or (39 in Gucci). Since it went further up my foot it also wasn’t as comfortable when I walked.

So I returned the mules and ordered the pink loafers!  You can see them below! I think the proportion of the loafer is better looking on my foot. Plus, the loafer is actually a nicer shoe.

I’ll explain how it is a nicer shoe.  Let’s exam the soles.  The bottom left is the Princetown. The bottom right is the Brixton.  The one of the right is clearly nicer.  One, look how many nails are in the sole of the shoe to keep the shoe together? The brixton has 10.  7 in the heel and 3 at the toe.  The Princetown only has 2 in the heel.  That means the rest of the sole is glued on.

Since I plan on keeping these puppies forever, I’ll take the better made shoe, thank you.

Yes, it is a total splurge and I’m well aware of the fact that I do not need these shoes. But I bought them. And I loved them. And I highly recommend them! They come in tons of colors! I’ve linked them in the widget below.

Getting Ready for Summer Sun!

Getting Ready for Summer Sun!We use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

Rounding up a few of my favorite items that I use for the Summer sun!  I know it’s *only* May, BUT here in California the weather is nice and I spend a lot more time outside!

Sun Hat – My new favorite sunhat UPF 50+ came from Amazon of all places and it was only $15.  It can roll up and is size-adjustable! I wore it in Hawaii and loved it! I also wear this sun visor as well!

Sunglasses – I love wearing sunglasses. Since I live in California, I wear sunglasses every day! Yes, even when it’s raining sometimes because it’s so bright!  I rounded up a few of my favorites in the widget below!

Swim Suit – I bought this swim suit (top here, bottom here) and got so many compliments from various people at the pool in Hawaii.  It is flattering! They also have a one piece version here too. I’ve also rounded up a few of my favorite swimsuits in the widget below!

Cover-Up– My favorite swim cover up company is Shahida Parides – found them by watching the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  No, they aren’t cheap, but I have never found a cover up as pretty as these ones!  Nordstrom rack occasionally gets them in and I found some on sale at Nordstrom Rack HERE!

Tanning Products – If you want the tanned look, but don’t want to risk skin cancer, I recommend trying a self tan product.  St. Tropez Self Tan mousse has tons of loyal followers. I tried St. Tropez’s self tan in 3 min in the shower and liked it for a quick light color application. Kate Somerville’s self-tanner towelettes are easy for on-the-go application. Clarin’s has a loyal following. As does Coola.

Sunscreen – Obviously a must have if you are going to be in the sun!  My favorite face sunscreen I wear every day is by La Roche Posay here. As for body sun screen, honestly I just pick a spray sun screen and whatever is on sale is what I buy! I usually buy SPF 50+, but sometimes SPF 30+, again, depending on what’s on sale!

My Secrets to Being Happy

We use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

I have recently been asked how I am always happy.  Yes, I have good days and bad days like everyone, but most of the time generally speaking, my overall mood is happy.   Here are a few tips on how I maintain my happiness.

French macaron dessert with blue and white

Focus On Yourself

Yes, it might sound selfish but it’s not.  Take some time to spend on yourself.  You literally cannot make everyone happy, however you have the power to make yourself happy.  What makes you happy? What do you enjoy doing?  Then do it!  You need to love thyself first.

French blue and white table

Focus What You Can Control

There are things within our control and things out of our control.  Ask yourself, is what I am worried or stressed about in my control? If it is not in your control, then don’t worry about it.  If it is, and it is making you unhappy, what can you do to change it?

french dessert

Exercise

You don’t have to go run a marathon.  Just 20 minutes a day will increase your mood!  When you exercise, happy hormones are released from your body and you will literally feel better!  Exercise is a great medicine.  You can just go on a brisk walk around the block, do yoga, ride your bike!  You don’t have to join a gym to get exercise.

French macaron and flowers

Be Grateful

Be grateful for your what you have.  Alex Toussaint from the Peloton bike likes to say “Be thankful, you woke up today”.  The privilege that we have to just even get up out of bed on our own and walk is something to be thankful for!  If I start feeling like I’m having a bad day, I just think about the things that I am grateful for and it makes the feelings of unhappiness go away.  Don’t complain about things you don’t have; no matter where you are in life you can always find things to be unhappy about. Count your blessings!

French country vignette

Spend Time on Your Relationships

Surround yourself with people you enjoy being with.  If spending time with someone makes you unhappy, then stop spending time with them!  People change and relationships change.  Instead of spending time on the internet, maybe focus some more time on your spouse or family.   There have been many studies that show those with close relationships are happier people.

And that’s all folks! Nothing ground breaking here, just a few things that I do!

I got a new little phone and watch organizer stand for my nightstand and I just had to share it with you!

I don’t know about you, but my phone cord and watch cord was constantly falling to the ground.  It was also getting tangled.  Enter this stand below! Look, it holds my chargers and my phone and watch! Yes, when you put your watch on it your watch charges! It comes in three colors.  I went with the gold.  They also make a watch-only stand.  So happy I bought this!

My cord never falls to the ground anymore and it looks so organized and chic on my night stand here.

I have always loved the Hermès blanket since I first saw one in a magazine years ago.  I recently found a total copycat of the Hermes Avalon blanket… for a fraction of the cost!!

Interior Design by Garrow Kedigian. Photography by Christopher Sturman.

Ellen Degeneres and Portia di Rossi’s ranch. Photography by William Abranowicz.

It comes in all different colors... with a price tag of $1525.

Ok and here is my copycat blanket!! Not too shabby… yes it is a little wrinkled but I just took it out of the box! I like the burst of color it adds to the back of my couch! This is the blanket I bought!

The orange is a little bit different shade from the Hermes orange (real Hermes boxes I placed on top of it).  But I’m happy with it!

I also bought it in grey too because I couldn’t decide on a color!   I bought the blankets from two different companies.  The orange blanket manufacturer’s blanket I think is a little bit better quality. That blanket is thicker and heavier.  The grey blanket is a lighter and one I would use in the Summer.

Now, what’s weird is I went to link the two separate blankets… but now Amazon states they are by the same manufacturer.  On my invoice, it says the grey was made by someone else.  The orange blanket I bought was indeed this one however.  There is also this company that makes knock off H blankets.  Well what can I say… you are buying a knock off and not the real deal!  Of course they come in different colors too.

Must-Have Purse Organizer

We use affiliate links in our posts and our site. This means if you make a purchase using these links, we may earn a small commission. You don’t pay a cent more than you would otherwise! Our full disclosure is available under About.

I just discovered that there are purse organizers.  WHY am I just learning about these?! This is exactly what I needed for some of my purses!  They are made of felt, so they don’t rub on your purse and cause wear marks.

There are several different companies who make them with slightly different variations.  I ordered two different ones because I couldn’t decide which one I would like better.

This is the one I bought for the Louis Vuitton Speedy purse.  You can see my glamorous picture below.  I like the three center divider in it – you can even fit a water bottle! It also has a little keychain that you can attach your keys to – no more searching for your keys (which are always at the bottom, am I right?)

This is the one I bought for my Longchamp Le Pliage and Goyard tote bag.  You can see it has a center divider with a zipper.   I tend to use my tote bags more when I’m traveling, so I thought the zippered compartment would be safer for my wallet.  Again, notice the keychain tie.

Another bonus for this organizer is that it helps the Longchamp Le Pliage keep it’s cute shape! For both of these organizers, the middle divider/pocket is removable as is the keychain ring.

Now the size I ordered was the large size for the Longchamp Le Pliage large bag, but I put the organizer in my Goyard bag too, as pictured below.  There is some room still on the side, but I think I’ll be fine with it!  I just didn’t feel like ordering a hundred different organizers for all of my bags!

They are removable – so if you are switching purses of similar sizes you can just pick up the organizer and move all of your stuff with it!

They come in TONS of different colors and sizes! Like for Louis Vuitton Neverfull, Longchamp medium bags, really ANY BAG! Just measure your bag and find one that fits!!  I went with the tan color because, well, they were available for one day shipping haha!

I ordered these on Amazon with my Prime account in the morning and literally had them by dinner time that night?! THE SAME DAY. 7 hours later.  It’s so crazy that Amazon can do that! If you don’t have Amazon Prime – here is a link to a free  30 day trial. Also, this shop on Etsy sells them too  and I ALMOST bought them from the etsy shop but then… well, free one day shipping.

Battersea Boxes – Friday Favorites

Let’s talk about Battersea boxes. Have you ever heard of them?

They are little boxes, about the size of a pill box, usually made of enamel or porcelain.  They were given as sentimental gifts, and that’s why I’m featuring them near Valentine’s Day!  Some of the themes of these boxes are of love!  There are many other themes too.

They were made under Sir Stephen Theodore Janssen at the York House in Battersea from 1753-1756.  They had a unique way of printing called transfer printing.

An impression was made from an engraved metal plate that had been brushed with enamel colors and then transferred to a box. Factories in nearby towns, such as Bilston, also produced similar boxes.  They are sometimes called “Bilston Boxes”, but the original method of transfer printing started in Battersea gave them their name “Battersea Boxes”.

Original Battersea boxes can be very pricey.  It is very hard to find an antique one that is not cracked either.

If the cracks bother you, there are new ones made to this day by Halcyon Days.

They were used as pill boxes, snuff boxes, hold make up or other little trinkets. They are all very small – no bigger than 2″ I’d say.  Most of them are about the size as a half dollar.

Fashion from the Golden Globes 2019

I was sitting over here thinking about how much I dislike January… it’s cold. The days are short. The weather sucks… (it rained all weekend and was sooo windy, we lost power for several hours!). The house looks so empty after Christmas is taken down.  And then the Golden Globes came on. Ok, the show was boring, but I don’t ever watch it for the show… I watch it for the FASHION!

So, it reminded me of something I heard once, when someone was asked “What is your favorite season?” and the guy replies “AWARDS SEASON!!!!”.

Emily Blunt in Alexander McQueen

Halle Berry in Zuhair Murad

Isla Fisher in Monique Lhuillier

Allison Janey in Christian Siriano. Every time I see Christian Siriano’s designs, I still can’t believe he was on Project Runway! I remember his season so well!

Danai Gurira in Rodarte. The way this dress looks when she moves is stunning!

Lady Gaga in Valentino. Not a fan on the blue hair but am a fan of the dress!

Catherine Zita Jones in Elie Saab

Lupita Nyong’o in Calvin Klein. Love how this dress moved!

Kristen Bell in Zuhair Murad. I feel her pouty poses ruin the look a little bit… I couldn’t find a single picture of her smiling in it!

Julia Roberts in Stella McCartney

Kiki Layne in Dior

Janelle Monae in Chanel. I know a lot of you won’t like this one either, but I love Chanel!

Constance Wu in Vera Wang

Gemma Chan in Valentino

Penelope Cruz in Ralph and Russo

Sofia Carson in Giambattista Valli. I know most won’t like this dress, but I love it! Not too many people could pull this off!

Octavia Spencer by Christian Siriano.  I love this dress, something I would wear!

Best Dressed goes to… Charlize Theron in Dior!

This look is so chic, can’t go wrong with black and white!

And I think the most talked about fashion item from the show was…. Timothee Chamolet’s outfit by Louis Vuitton.  The designer is calling it a “French bib”.  I think it looks like fancy suspenders.

Peloton Bike Review – 3 years later!

Happy New Year! With the new year everyone starts thinking about health and fitness.  So I thought I would write about my favorite piece of exercise equipment: THE PELOTON BIKE!!!

We have had the Peloton Bike for almost 3 years and we love it.  We initially purchased it because we were having trouble making time to go to the gym because of our busy lifestyle.  I first wrote a review at 100 rides later which you can read here.

I thought I would show you have we have set up our bike at our house now since we’ve moved.  These are pictures of our exercise area.

As you can see in the picture below we set up our tower fan to cool us while riding.

peloton workout room

The bike holds 2 water bottles.  When we are not working out we leave our towel and heart rate monitor to dry on the handle bars.

peloton bicycle review

The bike holds the weights behind you. This is convenient as some of the cycling classes have an arms session.

peloton bike review

We also keep our remove control for the fan and the much needed chapstick here.

We have an exercise mat underneath the bike to catch sweat because this bike will make you sweat!

peloton bike review

Below are some screen shots from the app but you can do the classes also on the bike.  Since writing my previous review they have added many more exercise options such as boot camp, live yoga classes, running indoor and outdoor etc.

peloton app review
peloton app review

A new feature also includes training programs.  I recently finished the 4 week Ride Tabata with Robin and it was great.

peloton app review

During each classes the bike measures many different metrics.  I have includes a screen shot of one of my recent rides.  These metrics include heart rate if wearing a compatible heart rate monitor, resistance, speed, cadence, and output based on wattage.

peloton cycle review
peloton app review

Also they have added new badges that you can earn.  These are fun to collect. As you can see I don’t do any of the boot camps but I love riding.

peloton badges

Another example of some of the badges.  In December they added monthly challenges which is a good motivator.  You can ride with friends and also earn badges as noted by these social badges below.

While you are riding you can “high five” other riders who are currently riding.  This is nice especially during the hard parts of rides.

peloton badges

During our workouts our cat sits in her tower and sleeps while we are sweating to death.

You can also use the app on your iPad.  We use this for core workouts and yoga.  It is also great if you are traveling.  If you don’t want to splurge on the bike you can first download the app to subscribe to see if this is something you are truly interested in.

While the bike is no where cheap at $2245, we felt it has been worth every penny and between my husband and I we use it nearly everyday.  The peloton membership is $39 dollars a month.

They now have introduced a Treadmill too, called the Peloton Tread.  We have been debating about it… but I hate running so I don’t know how much I’d use it. You certainly don’t have to run while using the treadmill – you can walk on it and there are walking programs in addition to programs for training for 5Ks and marathons!

My review earlier has more basic questions and answers and more of my favorite accessories – if you are seriously thinking about the bike you’ll want to read that review too! You can purchase the bike here.

Favorite Extra Equipment

Here is the equipment mat we use – cheaper than the Peloton one.

I love this sweat wicking temple tape headband.

Shoe clips – hang two pairs of cycling shoes on the back of the bike on the weight rack – perfect if you don’t have a lot of space! We just store our shoes in a cabinet in the room.

These are the clips you need for your cycling shoes if you don’t buy the Peloton branded shoes.

Love these weights – they fit in your bike weight holder (at least the 1 and 3 pound did!)

Highly recommend a tower fan with a remote control like this.

I have some of my favorite work out products here at my Amazon store.

You can use my referral code HMUX7R when you purchase the bike – this gives you and me $100 off at the Peloton boutique! win win!
