Fall finds, trip to Switzerland and more… Five on Friday

Fall finds at Williams Sonoma

Last year I purchased these pumpkins bowls and large cast iron pumpkin cocotte.  We used them through all of Autumn to bake our soups in.  Well, we dug it out of storage today and are serving up this season’s pumpkin soup for the first time this year!

This year, Staub came out with a large cast iron white pumpkin and then the smaller soup bowls.  Isn’t it super cute in white?  For those that would prefer, there is also a black pumpkin for Halloween night!

Sur La Table also has little white pumpkins as does Bed Bath & Beyond.  Those retailers also have the large pumpkin. Macy’s has the large pumpkin too but not at a discount.

The thing I bought this year was a new bread pan for my pumpkin bread! Secret though…. I totally use the WS pecan pumpkin bread mix to make the pumpkin bread. It is just SO GOOD.  I strongly suggest buying their pumpkin pecan butter too.  Here is where you can get a set of the bread mix and pecan pumpkin butter.  New this year is some caramel pumpkin butter – could be good.  Here is the gluten free bread mix!  This is the cute bread pan pictured below that I bought!

Switzerland Trip!

We are headed to Switzerland this Fall!!!  I have been to Zurich once just for a few hours – we stopped by the old town and went to Rhine Falls.  This time we’re going through Zurich, then to Lucerne and then to the Bernese Oberland.  Have any of you been to Switzerland?? I would LOVE to know your tips, must-sees, where to eat, and etc! Please leave me a comment!!

The pumpkin bowls!!!! Omg, NEED! Right up my alley. There's a Salvadorean restaurant in our neighborhood that had awesome Yelp reviews so we went and their pupusas were sooo good! I need to go back! Switzerland will be such an awesome and gorgeous trip! I went to Norway, so some of the scenery was similar and it was such a great trip.

Oh how delicious! The pupasas in the restaurant always taste better than mine but I'm pretty sure it's because they really fry their versions whereas I significantly cut down the amount of oil I cook them in. Yes I think Switzerland and Norway have similar scenery, minus the fjords but it should be nice!

Thanks very much Julie!! I am just dying to decorate for Fall but my husband is like… can't you at least wait until September???

Okay, I'm IN LOVE with the large white pumpkin – might have to bite the bullet on that one! :))

And that's so exciting that you are going to Switzerland! Those photos make me want to go so badly. It's definitely on my list as i have never been. I know you will have a wonderful time and I can't wait to read about all you do (and see photos!)

And thanks for the new Instagram suggestions. I already follow Debbie Tenquist (so gorgeous!) and of course, Loi Thai but all the others are new to me!

    Have a great weekend!

Isn't that giant white pumpkin adorable? If I didn't already own the large orange pumpkin I would buy it! I am buying the smaller white cocottes though. I will share my trip on Switzerland of course, it won't probably be for a few months as I haven't left for Switzerland just yet! Have a wonderful weekend!

From the first time I saw the Pumpkin Cocotte of Staub I was bowled over! Three years ago…. I think it is the most beautiful cocotte ever. It is a "wow" item. I would so love to have this in my kitchen – you cannot believe. The upcoming trip sounds lovely, I hope you do enjoy it as well as having good weather. Ahh the bread pan and mix, well that is another story. Go well.
